Laughing All the Way :: The Java Bean in Depoe Bay by LuRain Penny

Java Bean in Depoe Bay Oregon

We are having delicious coffee & homemade scones in our favorite place in Depoe Bay, Oregon.

The Java Bean is right on Hwy 101 at the sea wall – so it has the best view in town.

Recently taken over by our new friend Kim, this little coffee shop is the coolest place on the ‘strip’ to get your jolt of Joe.

Kim at Java Bean

We stopped by early in our adventure & have visited almost everyday since.

The little shop smells divinely of sweet things baking in the back.

Kim’s scones are worth stopping by to sample.

We really like her Cherry Walnut & the White & Dark Chocolate.

We are not the only ones who appreciate Kim’s cookin’.

Among her many satisfied customers is a little Northwest crow with one leg we named Sconey.

Sconey been hanging around the Java Bean since Kim took it over a few months ago.

He was just a puff ball then.

Bullied & pushed aside by the others of his flock, he suffered from failure to thrive & was much smaller than his buddies.

That he survived at all is a testament to his tenacity, courage & Kim’s scones!

Everyday she’d give him some crumbs.

When we met her, we brought a bag of seed for him too.

Now he is a sleek black bird who can more than hold his own & has become a local celebrity up & down the row of shops adjacent to the Sea.

Right next door to the Java Bean is My T-shirt & I run by Tony, Kim’s fiance.

They recently came to the coast from Portland with their 2 doggies.

Kim says “This is the most beautiful area I’ve ever encountered. Nothing makes Life easier than staring at the Ocean.”

We agree with her!

So long til later, we going out to feed the birds!!
